Devlog #8 Time to get organized


Hello everybody, it's the Paper Park team here, and the past two weeks have seen us organize a lot.

Firstly, Carolina Brás joined our team! She is going to be our UI Designer, helping us design the HUD for the game and all the various menus. We're very excited to have her on our team.

Before we get to the big organizational and design changes, our artist Margarida finished modeling the dragon boss, and even went as far as to animate him idling and spewing fire! The boss is coming along nicely! Mafalda wrote a lot of text describing the Fairy Glade, its story, and essential character moments. And Guilherme started work on the frog transformation.

Also, today's our artist Nuno's birthday! Since he finished animating Kiri, his birthday gift is that he finally gets to do concept art!

Things really started going on the design side. Carlos and Pedro had a meeting, splitting up the level into regions, assigning tickets to those regions, and going over the ticket ideas to see what to keep and what to scrap. Luckily at this point, we are really only considering scrapping one of the tickets.

We've also decided on a new structure for our documentation, as we had too many separate documents that made finding information hard. They are as follows:


Storyboards have been produced for one of the tickets, and during this sprint, we are overhauling and combining documentation into these three documents. We also plan on reviewing our asset list and start filling it out.

The end of May is nearing, and clearly, we haven't hit all the milestones for our first stretch. We don't really have tickets prototyped and Kami isn't working yet. But given how the team is expanding, and the rapid work occurring, we are confident we will get back on track.

So what are we planning to do these next two weeks:

  • Animate the dragon flying and crashing down
  • Finish writing the Fairy Glade introductory cutscene
  • Refactor documentation
  • Storyboard two more tickets
  • Continue work on the frog
  • Continue work on the camera
  • Create village concept art
